5 out of 5 stars Great product!   July 16, 2010

This is a great product for those hard-to-get-to-sleep nights. The double pack is very economical. Couldn't find it at Costco, although I originally purchased it there, but Amazon.com had it. Quick home delivery.

4 out of 5 stars Helps me stay asleep, not fall asleep.   May 19, 2010

I used to have a very random schedule that caused me to have trouble sleeping. I originally bought these hoping that they would help me fall asleep quickly, especially in situations where I wasn't super tired, but still wanted to get a full 8 hours of sleep.

Unfortunately, for me at least, these don't really cause me to fall asleep much faster. What they do is keep me from getting up after four hours and not being able to go back to sleep. If I take these, I end up sleeping for at least 8 hours, and still feeling like I could go back to bed.

Now I only use these if I'm trying to get back to a normal sleep schedule by going to bed early and getting a full nights sleep. They work well for that, but I have to make sure I'm going to be able to sleep the full night, because I'll be zonked out otherwise.

4 out of 5 stars For me, surprisingly strong   May 21, 2010

To help me sleep, I've taken these 10 or 12 times and have also take Ambien on occasion . I've found these to be quite potent, to the point to where you are a bit groggy when it is time to get up the next morning. I can feel the morning-after effect even after taking only half of one.

They don't take effect quite as fast as Ambien; it takes about an hour for them to kick in, but once they do they put me in a fairly long-lasting, deep sleep that is not so easy to shake out of when it is time to get up. For me, they have much more of an after effect than Ambien...they're much more "druggy," for lack of a better term. I was surprised an over-the-counter sleep aid would have this much of a kick to it.

One point to note: if you are a male and tend to have to get up in the middle of the night, these pills can...well...enlarge that problem. If you normally get up once or twice, it is likely that you will get up three or for times after taking one of these. You'll get up more sleepily and will go back to sleep more easily when you go back to bed, but be aware that it may have an impact in that regard. It provides a warning to this effect on the label.

Overall, though, I have found them to be a fairly effective OTC solution to battle insomnia.

4 out of 5 stars Keeps me asleep, yaaaaaay   July 14, 2010

I've used other over the counter products to get and stay asleep but usually they only get me there... and a few hours later I'm up again. Plus, most of them are variations on Benadryl and thus dry your sinuses and mouth out.

This one (active ingredient doxylamine succinate) doesn't get me to sleep fast, but once I'm there, it's great. I sleep through til morning. I'm going through an early change of life and get hot flashes, and now I usually sleep through them. Finally I wake up feeling pretty rested. After 8 hours, I have no dry mouth, and rarely feel any kind of drug hangover unless I have exceeded the recommended dosage (which I don't advise, of course).

This formula is available in many places in stores or on the net. The reason I bought these is because they come in bottles, and not those annoying little aluminum-peely bubble cards that are a serious pain to open. Now I take one, brush my teeth and am off to bed in a flash.
